Things I do to be productive
Hey Gorgeous!
Friendly Friday Reminder to work with your brain and nervous system to be more productive.
Here are a few things I regularly do to keep my head in the game (without being a dick to myself).
1. I've been playing around with gamifying my to do list to give my ADHD brain some novelty, positive reinforcement, and challenges to work on. (Dopamine) I'm currently creating a to-do list Bingo card. LOL
2. I also support my brain by listening to specific playlists while I work. I've found no-lyric electronica works well to rev my brain up and lo-fi and binaural beats to keep me in a groove (no lyrics there either).
3. Having a rough outline of what I need to do each day dramatically reduces my cognitive load which is like getting a few extra hours a day. #winning
It also allows me to work with my natural energy cycles instead of against 'em. I schedule all of my calls a few days a week and then give myself time to chill. I am most creative from 9-11, 2-3, and 5-7. It's not set in stone, obvs, but I don't try to force myself to do "it" when the energy just ain't there.
I'm all about POTENT action taking and a big part of that is working in this way.
4. Speaking of cognitive load, I keep my office space serene AF. I am diligent about keeping visual noise to a minimum. I tidy my desk every day, surround myself with fresh flowers and plants, take out my trash daily, and *try* to keep my post it notes and scribble scrabbles in 2-3 places max. I always struggle with that last one though. LOL
5. I have clocks and timers everywhere (without moving an inch, I just counted SEVEN in my eye line) because when my brain gets on track I have *zero* sense of time passing.
Ok, real talk: I generally don't have a sense of time passing, but when I'm in a groove there could be a tornado outside and I wouldn't notice.
I also use timers to race against (gamify), or to tell myself "I only have to do x for 15 minutes and then you can do whatever tf you wanna do." Can you tell FREEDOM is a high priority for me?
This is one of my favorite topics of all time but I'll stop at 5. LOL
Xo,
Lisa
PS - What sorta things help you to get shit done? I wanna know!
